WELCOME TO THE
HOLY PLACE

Connecting People to The Father
Through A Relationship With His Son

The word doctrine simply defined is teaching or instruction.  On this page you will find our essential beliefs as prescribed by the Holy Bible.

Paul admonished the church to: “Give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine…. Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee” (I Timothy 4:13, 16)

Not only are we to read the word we are to according to 2 Timothy 2;15,  "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth".  Proper exhortation requires us not just to be a reader but you have to know the content and context of the scriptures that we not fall prey to the schemes and tricks of the devil. The bible lets us know in 1 Timothy 4:1,  that in the last days some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.

There are two forces at war for your soul.
1. The Kingdom Of God.

2. The Kingdom Of Darkness

Both of them have a doctrine which one will win? In our day most people do not want sound doctrine, but they want to find a pastor and preachers who will make them feel good.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 2 Timothy 4:1

That is not our assignment here at The Holy Place. We have been commissioned by God in 2 Timothy 4:2 to,  “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine”

God places Pastors and leaders in the church to aid you in teaching and instruction.

And I will give you shepherds according to My heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding. Jeremiah 3:15

The assignment of all leaders according to Ephesians 4:15,  is to speak the truth in love, that we may grow up into him (Christ) in all things, which is the head, even Christ, God placed them in our lives to help us to be strong in the faith rather than tossed about by every wind of doctrine.

That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

People erroneously assume is that there is not really a connection between belief and conduct. However this is not the case.

We find Paul in 1 Timothy‬ ‭4:12‬ ‭telling young Timothy “but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

The only way to attain maturity in the faith is to have a balance of doctrine and spirituality otherwise one will end up in the deception of emotionalism.

For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.

At The Holy Place church we are not out to make followers of ourselves as this generation suggests, but our assignment is to make you followers of Christ who will hear well done in the last day.

ESSENTIAL BELIEFS
  • About The Bible

Bibliology: The Study Of The Bible

The Bible is God’s Word to us, written by human authors by the inspiration of God, under the inspiration and supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is the infallible truth without any mixture of error.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 2 Timothy 3:16

    Its Purpose

That the people of God 2 Timothy 3:17, may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

We are to study it that  we might according to 2 Timothy 2;15,  "Study to shew ourselves approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth".

We are to pay strict attention to the words writen in it and continue in it that we may both save ourselves and others. Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee” (I Timothy 4:13, 16)

  • About The Godhead

We believe in the Godhead that has eternally existed in three personalities. God the Father, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Ghost.

1 John 5:7 lets us know that there are three that bear record in heaven, the father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

The Bible itself does not mention the word trinity. However the above verse substantiates the evidence of this belief.

We believe although they (Father, Son, Holy Ghost) are one that each plays an essiential role in our salvation and spiritual development.  Although we are apostolic by practice unlike the oneness movements we acknowlege that through scripture that The Father, The Son, and The holy Ghost are one, futher examination of the scriptures show us 3 distinct beings.

    The Father

God the Father is the Creator and Ruler of all things.

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created  the heaven and the earth.

    '

    The Son

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God.

    Colossians 1:19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;

    The Holy Ghost

John 15:26 “But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:”

    God The Father

God the Father is the creator of all things.

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created  the heaven and the earth.

Although we are apostolic by practice unlike the oneness movements we acknowlege that through scripture that The Father, The Son, and The holy Ghost are one.

    Genesis 1:26-27

26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

27 So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

     God is a Spirit

John 4:24 “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”

  • About Jesus Christ

Christology - The Study of Christ

Jesus Christ is the Son of God who now sits at the right hand of the Father making intercession for us. Jesus Christ is God manifested in flesh. He is both God and man.

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John 1:14

John 1:18  “No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.”

He has existed with the Father from the beginning

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1

He is known as the Begotten Son born of a virgin named Mary.

Matthew 1:23 “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”  Jesus is “God with us.”

Luke 1:35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

John 1:14  “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”

Matthew 16:16 “And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

While on earth lived a sinless human life and offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the cross. On the third day He arose from the dead demonstrating His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again someday to earth to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.

Colossians 1:14-20 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: 15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: 16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. 19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; 20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

  • About The Holy Ghost

Pneumatology - The study of the Holy Spirit

The Holy Ghost is the manifestation of the Spirit of God (The Creator),

Genesis 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

He is the promise Christ promised to be our comforter, sustainer and keeper.

St. John 14:26 But the Comforter, [which is] the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

He came  to dwell in the hearts and lives of people who will be obedient to the Gospel.

John 14:17  Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

    Romans 8:1

“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”

  • About Human Beings

    Anthropology-The study Of Man

We as people (the supreme object of God’s creation) were created in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character.

Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:

Genesis 5:2 Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.

Created with the tremendous potential for good, we all became marred by disobedience toward God called “sin.” Through Adam’s transgression and fall, sin came into the world.  Disobedience separates people from God and is the primary cause of many problems in life.

Romans 5:12  Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was manifested to destroy the work of the devil.

1 John 3:8  For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

  • About Sin

Hamartiology - The study of sin

Everyone has sinned and needs salvation.

Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

Romans 3:23  “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”

Mankind was created with the tremendous potential for good, we all became marred by disobedience toward God called “sin.” Through Adam’s transgression and fall, sin came into the world.

Disobedience separates people from God and is the primary cause of many problems in life.

  • About Salvation

Soteriology - The study of salvation

Salvation comes by grace through faith-based on the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Sin requires a payment,  the good news is Jesus already took care of that payment.  Salvation is God’s free gift to us, through the gift of his son (Jesus) dying on the cross for our sin(s), but we must accept it and do what it takes to maintain it.

We can never make up for our sin by doing good works or our efforts of self-improvement; we are saved by grace and not by works.

Romans 3:23  “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”

1 John 1:8, 10 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

1 John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Although God is the creator of all he is not the Father of all, only those who are saved.

    John 8:44

Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Jesus shed his blood and gave His life on the cross  to restore lost man back to God. The only way that anyone be saved from the penalty of sin is by believing and trusting in Jesus Christ along with the repentance and confession of the sins that they have committed.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

    Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

Salvation brings about our deliverance from…not our excuse to continue in sin.

Romans Chapter 6:1-2 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Salvation brings about deliverance from all sin and unrighteousness through the shed  Blood of Jesus Christ. It is not attained by being good or by works (acts of service)

Ephesians 2:8-9  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

Salvation is obtained by repentance for sina nd  faith in Jesus Christ. It should be be followed by water baptism, and receiving the in-filling of the Holy Ghost, so that one is equipped to lead a godly life.

  • About Sanctification

    Sanctification

Hebrews 12:14 teaches that without holiness, no man can see the Lord. Sanctification the work of God in which He completes what He started during the start of our salvation process. It is the process in which God seperastes us from the ways of the world so that we can be dedicated as Holy unto Him for his use. In the bible something ot someone has been sanctified, it/they is been reserved for God's purposes alone. If you have made a true decision to walk with Christ it is imperative that you realize that you have  been made holy.

God cleanses us, and he calls for us to make the consious decision to seperate ourselves from the ways and patterns of the world.

    (2Cor. 5:17; 2Cor. 6:17; Heb. 12:14; Psalm 4:3; 1Thess. 5:23; 2Peter 3:18; ; Phil. 3:12-14; 1 Cor. 1:2; 1Cor. 1:30).

  • About Water Baptism

Acts 2:38-39 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, [even] as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Baptism in water by immersion, is a direct commandment of our Lord, and is for repentant believers who have accepted Christ and have turned from their sin only. Salvation is not obtained through water baptism alone; baptism is an outward sign that one has totally committed their life to Christ thus becoming dead to sin. Water Baptism is an essential part of New Testament salvation process as well as being sent forth into ministry.

Jesus himself was baptized by John in the river Jordan.

Matthew 3:13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.

Matthew 3:16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 17And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

While it is possible to be saved and recieve the Holy Ghost without being baptized it is a requirement for all believers.

Acts 10:44-48  While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. 45And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. 46For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, 47Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? 48And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord.

It is part of the Great comission that Jesus gave to the church.

Matthew 28:19-20 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

The ordinance is the outward symbol of the believer's identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. One must believe the Gospel, confess Christ as Lord and God, and repent of sin before baptism is offered and administrered. Water baptism at the Holy Place is only administered to those that have accepted Christ and are able to understand the commitment they are undertaking. Baptism is given by full immersion in water.

Baptism is administered in the “likeness” of Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection.

    Colossians 2:12

“Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.”

Romans 6:4-5  Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also [in the likeness] of [his] resurrection:

The Holy Place Church does not baptize infants because it is not substantiated by the Word of God,  we dedicate children to the Lord. The confession of their sins and baptismis a decision that they must make but we will do it only at an age that they are able to understand an explain their decision to be baptized.

    Additional reading: Mark 1:10; Acts 8:36 - 8:39

  • About Baptism In The Holy Ghost

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

The Baptism in the Holy Ghost is a gift from God promised by the Lord Jesus Christ to all believers who meet the qualifications to recieve him.

Acts 2:38  Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

It (the baptism) should be received subsequent to salvation and especially before going forth into any type of public ministry.

God demonstrated the importance of it be anointing Jesus.

Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

While Jesus was on earth he walked with them. However he knew that they needed to have the power inside of them once he went away.

John 14:17 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

The disciples walked with Jesus, were trained by Jesus himself, yet they were not effective in their ministry until they recieved the baptism of the Holy Ghost. Matthew through John they were given instructions and were often rebuked because they were not focused or able to carry out his commands.

When we get saved we recieve a measure of the spirit. However without the indwelling power of the Holy Ghost one is ilequipped and not fully equipped to fight in this battle of spritual warfare. With nothing on the inside your spiritualcan be compared to a policeman without a badge or a gun. God does not want us to be without authority in the earth.

Once one is saved we at the Holy Place encourage the new believer to wait for the promise which is the gift of the fulness of the indwelling power of the Holy Ghost before engaging in any of our service ministries. He (The Holy Ghost) provides the believer with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He also empowers every believer from the moment that they receive the gift of the Holy Ghost to live a holy and sanctified life.

The Holy Spirit is present in the believer to convict of sin and to lead, comfort, and direct. As Christians, we seek to live under His control daily being obedient to his direction.

Even the effectivmness of the our prayer life depends on the Holy Ghost.

Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Jude 1:20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

You cannot pray in the Spirit without the Holy Ghost. The initial evidence of the Holy Ghost is the ability to speak in tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance. The Baptism in the Holy Ghost is the manifestation of the promise, indisputable, supernatural witness and sign of the initial filling.

Tongues have two distinct classifications that we must understand.

    1. Speaking with other tongues (languages) as the sprit gives utterance. This gives us the ability upon the leading of the Spirit to pray as He gives the utterance. This may or may not be with interpretation as sometimes the Spirit is not interceeding for others but for you.

    2. The gift of tongues which is for the edification of the Body of Christ. This is often with interpretaion.

  • About Eternal Security

When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith in obedience to God’s word we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith, but the new believer must do what it takes to maintain their salvation so that their name not be blotted out of the book of life.

Even though God gave us eternal life through Jesus Christ, the statement that the believer is secure in their salvation for all eternity is not biblically correct. We are saved through grace however we must continually maintain a holy lifestyle before God.  We must make every effort to live a life that is well pleasing to God, keeping ourselves unspotted from the sins and cares of the world.

  • About Eternity

People are created to exist forever. The soul of each person will exist forever: eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence. Hell is where the soul eternally separated from God is, where there is no rest for the soul but rather eternal torment. Those who are saved and have lived a life well pleasing to God shall enter into the eternal rest of heaven
